Club Med Insider

My husband and two girls (12 and 9 yrs old) are planning on traveling to Cancun Club Med in early May, 2010. Given the Travel Alerts from the US Travel Embassy, I'm rethinking whether or not we should go?

Has anyone been to Cancun recently that can comment on the safety precautions set in place for tourists?

heidi says The travel alerts are for the border areas, Cancun is waaay far away from where all of the violence has been. Cancun is very safe, I actually felt much safer there than I would have in many cities in the US! We went to CM back in October, the resort is beautiful, and gated. I never once felt nervous for myself or my kids, who participated in all of the activities with the kids club, and had a blast doing it! We loved it so much, that we are going back this coming June. I would never cancel my vacation because of violence that is over 1500 miles away. I would never cancel my plans to Florida, just because there is violence in Detroit. Have a great time! Craig says We have been down to Club Med three years in a row with 10 and 11 year olds with no safety concerns. We feel perfectly safe and are comfortable enough to let the kids roam a little on their own. Posted April 16, 2010, 4:42 pm
