Club Med Insider

I like variety in my travel. I don't like to repeat a trip because I spend the 2nd trip comparing it to the last one, thereby not fully enjoying the 2nd one. I love the Club Med concept with all of the activities you can do and people you can meet. I do not have kids. I do not hate kids, but I don't really want to sit around the pool and watch babies getting changed or sit at dinner surrounded by temper tantrums. I've been to Turkoise (just got back!) and thought it was great. I want to go somewhere else, but the other close clubs are all billed as family resorts. Can anyone give feedback about which clubs would be more conducive to an adult person or couple with the least amount of kid interaction (like kids away all day at their own activities, babies not allowed poolside, or something else)?

Elizabeth says I'm with you on not wanting to hang out with someone else's kids (they're only cute when they're family :) Columbus Isle in the Bahamas allows kids, but doesn't get many families because they don't offer kids programs. Mostly adults are there--either for relaxation, romance or diving and snorkeling. The few kids that are there are teens--and want to do their own thing.
The Brazilian resorts are also pretty cool. Yes, there are families, but somehow Latin Americans keep the adult vibe.

Jeff Toorish says Columbus Isle does allow children, but it doesn't have the kids camp activities so there tend to be fewer children there and most of them are older. I just returned from there and there were no young children at all --so while it is not an adults only village it may fit what you are looking for.

By the way, the Chief of Village at Columbus Isle used to be at Turkoise. While the two villages have a different feel to them, they are both spectacular.

Sabina Sicuso says I agree, Columbus Isle is a great choice. If you've already been there or want to go elsewhere...you could try one of the resorts billed as "family" during the months of Sept/Oct when the kids are back in school and the atmosphere is more adult at the resorts. Heidi says my husband and i have been to about fifteen club meds, and we don't have kiddos. we've noticed a couple of trends. the clubs who have kids programs tend to have really cool couples to chat with and the children are away a lot . . . except dinner for the temper tantrums :) unfortunately the clubs that allow children, but have no activities, are chaos when the french are on national holiday. there are a ton of kids with little supervision. we are trying to figure out the various french/italian/europian childrens holidays. the latin families somehow do things different with their children. mellower.

we loved columbus isle and turkoise. Posted February 27, 2009, 8:39 pm

Sharon says I don't know if it's close for you, but Bora Bora is really spectacular and does not have kids' activities. There were very few children there when I was there, and the ones that I encountered were really pleasant. Poorly behaved kids definitely tend to ruin my trip as well, so I know what you mean! Kirsti Frost says I agree with Travel Diva, all the Resorts out of school breaks dont have that many children, and with the programs available for the children that are on site keep them busy all day. The best time to travel for no kids is May June and September/October.And don't forget most resorts have an adults only pool ( Ixtapa, Sandpiper...) and adults only dining options. Gabrielle says Yes, the best one I recommend is COLUMBUS ISLE, which used to be for honeymooners, but due to lack of such a clientele, it is now an adult village. A few kids are there, but hardly noticable. Posted March 10, 2009, 11:45 am

Tom says Don't go to Cancun Mexico.
Every thing you don't want in a vacation and more is at Cancun Club Med. Kid's crawling all over you in the dining room, Etc. I have not been to Bora Bora but plan to go soon. I have been to Morea and may go back to another inclusive resort. Posted March 29, 2009, 9:16 pm

Chokri says the best option so far for adults still Turkoise number 1, the ambiance, the activities and especially the party time after the show in the village square, at the beach during the beach party, in the Sharkees bar after the circus show or during the white party around the bar Posted May 23, 2009, 7:13 pm

Alisson says Why don't you go in a peru vacation that way you can visit another country and have a nice expirience that won't be interruped by children. It 's a beautiful place to go!!! Posted October 1, 2009, 10:23 am
