Emma says The best place for kayaking and snorkeling is definitely Cancun. You can walk to the snorkel area at any time all day. There is also sailing right next to the kayak area, if your daughter would like to take a beginner lesson. Posted June 26, 2009, 8:23 pm

0Laura says I would also recommend Cancun. The reef is great for snorkeling and unlike many resorts, you can leave right from the beach instead of taking a boat to the reef. I highly recommend the sailing as well. There are small Hobies which are very easy to learn to sail and one and tw0-person kayaks. Best of all the staff at the snorkel and sail locations are the BEST! They are experts at what they do but have the patience and kindness to help novices. Wish I could go with you! 0lori says I third Club Med Cancun. Just returned, went with my boys of 12 and 17. They loved the sailing and snorkeling. You snorkel in a national park, so much to see. The sailing was great, great GO's, we loved to sail, even my 12 year old can do it by himself. Posted July 6, 2009, 6:02 pm

0Evelyn says Just back from Cancun and the snorkeling was excellent. Right off the beach and easy access. You can go whenever you want for as long as you want. I saw tons of different fish, shark, squid, needle fish, barracuda, sting ray etc... Kayaking was also good and fun. The sailing team was fabulous and taught my 18 yr old daughter how to sail and she went out on her own the next day. Posted July 12, 2009, 6:16 pm

0Sarah says We loved Punta Cana for kayaking, although the week we went there were too many jellyfish for snorkeling. Our 14 year old daughter made great friends with other teenage girls and was off having fun with them... we barely saw her. Great beaches, huge pool, gorgeous gardens.... excellent resort! 0Jill says We've just returned from Club Med Ixtapa and we loved it! You can kayak (and sail, play tennis, trapeze, climb the rock wall) and even snorkel. Although the best snorkelling is away from the resort - you can do it on the cheap by walking or taking a 5 min cab ride to playa linda where the boats take you to La Isla for some really good snorkeling. (I wouldn't recommend the overpriced trip from resort)
We have an 11 year old and a 13 year old and they loved it. Posted July 27, 2009, 8:48 pm

0Sharon says I would highly recommend Columbus Isle. I had some reluctance about how many teenagers would be there, but it was just the right mix. Not lots of younger kids like Punta Cana but just enough older kids for my 15 year old son to make friends. The snorkeling is great - I thought better than Turquoise. I would recommend you try it with your teenager. Posted July 27, 2009, 9:18 pm

0Mike M says Since you have kids, I would recommend Columbus Isle, Bahamas. I just got back from a week long vacation (July 4-11) and the snorkeling / scuba diving was amazing. The water sports crew is very warm and friendly making the experience very enjoyable. The visibility is clearer than Turks and all the places I have traveled in Mexico. The reefs are very close to the resort and have an abundance of eco-life. On a single trip you make be able to see rainbow fish, grouper, barracuda's and lobsters. If you are into diving, the resort offers well over 20 sites. The island site along side a see wall making your chances of seeing hammer head sharks very possible. There are also sea turtles, sandfish, starfish, just to name a few. I personally enjoyed the telephone site, where I was several reef sharks during a single dive. But don’t be alarmed as there are not too many sharks near the snorkeling sites as there are shallow reefs. Posted July 28, 2009, 8:10 am
