We will be staying at Club Med Punta Cana in January 2010. It's our very first family vacation abroad - 6 of us, including 4 kids! \\\

Anyways, just a few question I hope you can answer.\\\

1. How much cash should one anticipate spending while at the resort for a 2 week stay? Is there anything food/beverage-wise that costs extra, or additional costs that Club Med charges upon arrival or discharge?\\\
2. What is the preferred currency one should take?\\\
3. I have some kids that really want to swim with the dolphins. Does Club Med offer an excursion or is it better to arrange that on one's own. If the latter, what is the best and safest company to deal with?\\\
4. What is the security like at Club Med. Is it safe to go into town?\\\
5. Is there an excursion one can take to visit sugar canes, banana plantations, etc. that is safe?\\\
6. Does Club Med Punta Cana offer internet service? If so, is there a fee?\\\

Club med used to send kids club prep/packing instructions but I have received none for this trip. Where specifically can I find information (perhaps on your website? - have looked but can't find).

Also, am concerned about Sandpiper club renovations as we are at Club Jan 3. We booked for renovated room and have heard they are coming up short? Also, please let us know what to expect at club (traveling with 5 yr old).

I'm planning a much needed vacation with my husband and my 14 months old for early Feb 2011. Ixtapa or Punta cana? Which is a better resort? We'd like a bigger but standard room where we can put the crib in a separate area? My daughter is a super light sleeper.

Also is it worth it to pay extra for "baby club med"? Is like $550 extra for 7 nights... not sure if it's worth it.
Could we still drop my daughter off for a few hours a day? We'd probably just pay for night baby sitting to have dinner and not really need to leave her a very long time during the day.

I understand there is a wellness/spa center planned. We are arriving July 3 and was wondering if we would still be able to get an on site massage?

Hi! My husband and I and our 2 children, 4 and 6 will be traveling to Club Med Punta Cana in August. I, even in the states, have a very weak stomach and am worried about us getting sick there due to the water and/or food. Is all the water filtered or should we only drink bottled? I read to steer clear of peeled fruits and vegetables as well. I know there was an outbreak of Cholera not too long ago?!
Also are there problems with mosquitos?!
