I have a question about cancellations versus changes. When I booked online a "family" room was not listed as available however I was informed today by your customer service that you do have them available. This is more accommodating for my family since I have young children and I would prefer they not have their own entrance but apparently since this type of room is cheaper than my current booking they have to cancel my booking and rebook and since I am within 60 days of travel I have to pay a 25% penalty. I don;t understand why since I am still traveling the same dates and the online portal did not allow me to book this room type when I made my reservation. I like to leave an emergency contact phone number for the baby-sitter/house-sitter/dog-sitter, but am unable to find a specific phone number for this resort. (I don't want to leave everyone the main Club Med 1-800-number.)
Is there anyone else who misses the Ixtapa village the way it was before the remodel? Our family made annual trips to Ixtapa for four years before the change and one year after, and although the "upgrades" are very nice, it seems to have made the resort more like every other competitor and less like Club Med. We are Club Med newbies, can anyone please fill us in on the whole dress code thing, and possibly give us the dress codes for Ixtapa for the week of 4-25 to 5-2, 2009? I have two 12 year olds and a 14 year old, and "fitting in" is all that matters in their world. Me, I could wear a paper sack and still have fun, but the girls will care.....
