Hi, my family I will be staying at the Club Med Ixtapa from Feb. 13 to 20. My husband and I have traveled previously to Mexico on several occasions but this would be the first time we will be visiting Mexico with our 9 year old son. We have heard many good reviews about this resort so we are very excited about this trip. However, we saw a review on TripAdvisor posted on Feb. 4, 2010 from someone who claimed that a large group of people got a severe stomach virus at this resort in January and needed to receive I.V. in the Emergency Dept. at the local hospital. Would anyone who was also at this resort in January 2010 please let me know if he/she also got sick or heard about a viral outbreak during his/her stay? We plan to travel to the Ixtapa Pacific CM in the middle of Sept (2 adults, 1 toddler) but now I'm wondering if we should reschedule our vacation because I read that the swine flu is expected to get worse in the fall and pregnant women are considered at high risk. I'll be 5+ months pregnant by then. All the recent news about pregnant women or new moms dying (in the SF Bay Area where we're from) is scaring me and I'm wondering if I should be worried.

From what I've read it seems that the resort itself will be safe so I'm wondering if the plane ride and 1 hr transfer through Mexico City Airport will be dangerous.

I'm returning to Club Med Ixtapa next month after a 2-year haitus, excited to see the updates. My family and I have vacationed there in 8 out of the past 10 years. This time, I'd like to meet with a local real estate agent and learn more about how to buy property in Mexico, in anticipation of a possible move there in the next 2 years.

I'm sure CM doesn't have formal relationships with local realtors, but do you all have any recommendations on the best way to find one? I'd rather have appts set up when I get there than spent time there looking for one.

My husband and I (early 30's)are looking to take a Club Med trip at the beginning of September. We usually prefer Adult Only clubs (in fact we met at Club Med Turks), but we are thinking of Ixtapa, Mexico instead due to location and ease of transportation. Has anyone been there recently? Is it all families or do couples and singles seem to be going there too? We aren't anti- kids by any means, but we are afraid that sometimes the family resorts seem a little isolating as the families tend to hang by themselves. Any thoughts on Ixtapa?? Thanks.
