My family is taking a trip to Club Med Punta Cana in January of 2012. We are a family of 8, 2 adults 6 kids ages 14-2. I have been to tripadvisor, and read many negative reviews on the restaurants (bird problems in one, mold and cockroaches in the other). I want to know if these are real problems! We are currently staying at a deluxe family bedroom, and we are wondering if it we should downgrade to a club family room. How is the deluxe family bedroom situated? how many sleeping places are there? Is it significantly better then the club family room? We are going to Club Med Punta Cana for a 13-day stay arriving in late June as part of a three-week vacation. We are trying to assess how much clothing to bring. It will be our third time at the resort but the first since 2005. At that time, the resort offered a laundry service whereby you could get a large bag of clothes washed at a very reasonable price (unlike most hotels and resorts which are charging ludicrous prices on a per item basis). I spent my holidays at Club Med Punta Cana from 01/02/2010 until 12/02/2010. The day before our departure I met someones eyes at the pool and I was struck by lightning...never experienced such a thing...love at first sight... The day after I saw him on the beach,southern type light eyes and black/white/green bollboang swimshirt, in a group of 6 to 8 persons; and in the evening at the restaurant. The only thing we did was staring and smiling at each other .... unfortunately. My family has been to Punta Cana numerous times and no one has had even a mild stomach upset. There seems to be alot of internet chat about stomach flu at Punta Cana being very common the past few months. I usual ignnore this as I've never been sick at any Club Med in 24 years but we're going back to Punta Cana the end of May and admit to being somewhat concerned. Anyone have the real scoop?
