My kids fell in love with the music at IXTAPA. The crazy signs, and the music played in the Estrella bar when they danced. My assignment is to track down the songs so I can make them a mix. I located the obvious ones like Jessie, Africa, Absolutely Everybody - but I need help finding links or names (and artists) to a bunch of others. I don't know the names of most, but some that come to mind are bate que bate le chocolate and mouse mouse mickey mouse and the beat that they play for three minutes at the beginning of crazy signs and any of about 10 or 20 songs which they played every night in the bar, and here's really lousy clue to anyone who hasnt been to ixtapa: that spanish song that they seemed to play every day at the pool and when we arrived where the only words I know are oy oy oy oy oy oy. It's the one song I most associate with arriving at Ixtapa....I wish I would have thought of speaking to the DJ there before we left..... Read More ›

We are booked to go to Sandpiper on december 2011 and am concerned about recent reviews.
The renovated rooms are said to have shabby furniture and fridges, mould, rusty bathroom fittings etc. apparently renovated rooms are cleaner. Will the new deluxe rooms be ready by december 2011?\
\
Will the new fitness centre be fully open by then. It was supposed to open in spring 2011 and i read somewhere here that it will be now ready in early 2012. I really hope that is not the case as it is our main reason for choosing sandpiper.\
Will the swimming pools be heated , apparently only the lap pool is heated?\
\
Finally, is someone monitoring all these negative comments from tripadvisor and taking measures to improve things. \
PLEASE, it would be most appreciated if you could answer all of these questions. \

Diana asked:
After reading all the horrible reviews on tripadvisor, we are thinking of cancelling our trip to the Sandpiper in early March. We have booked prerenovated rooms and now read that the plumbing is not working, the rooms are dirty with mold everywhere and that they are terribly outdated. Why does maintenance not try to keep these rooms clean and updated? Should we try to upgrade our rooms? And why are the pools not heated. Pools are a huge part of relaxation and vacation and if the water is freezing nobody will use them. We will be travelling with two young kids that love swimming. Please tell us that the pools will be heated by then! And when will your Spa and Fitness center be finished? Club Med and the Sandpiper need to step up now in order to not ruin their reputation and and to assure vacationers that they will see improvements as soon as possible and that they do not have to cancel their reservations. Please clarify! Read More ›

Lisa asked:
HI there,
We will be at the resort in the New Year with our 10 month old and I had a few questions about the baby services:
- what exactly does the baby food corner entail (any way that I can get info on what kinds of foods are serve so I can figure out if I really need to bring 50 cans of jarred food)
- does the resort have a floatation ring/device for babies to use in the pool (obviously not to be left alone)

Thanks!

Randi asked:
My husband and I are taking our 11 mos old to Ixtapa in November, and we did not sign up for the daily babysitting when we booked our trip ( as I was not sure how much we would use it). When we get there, will we be able to pay on a day-to-day basis if we change our mind?

Also wondering if there are sand/pool toys for babies, or should we bring our own?

Thanks,
