my husband and i have been to about fifteen club meds, and we don't have kiddos. we've noticed a couple of trends. the clubs who have kids programs tend to have really cool couples to chat with and the children are away a lot . . . except dinner for the temper tantrums :) unfortunately the clubs that allow children, but have no activities, are chaos when the french are on national holiday. there are a ton of kids with little supervision. we are trying to figure out the various french/italian/europian childrens holidays. the latin families somehow do things different with their children. mellower.
we loved columbus isle and turkoise.

my husband and i have been to turks 3 times and love it, but we try to get a room as far away from the bars as possible. i'm not fond of obnoxious drunks. we enjoy the other clubs also, probably because we are a couple and enjoy hanging out with other couples. the kids are generally occupied with the many activities and we like kids anyway, so it's no big deal to us. we usually spend more time at the remote end of the beaches during the daytime. we choose clubs for the activities and sports. love columbus isle, turks, cancun (and many others that no longer exist).

there is an old rule about hurricane season being from june 5th to november 5th. i don't know if its true, but i try to book my trips to that region as close to those dates as possible. usually just inside those dates for a better price. the winter can actually be slightly cool at night, but not a problem. summer is hot, but clear . . . unless there is a hurricane nearby. that's when my husband and i hit the surf for a wild ride!
