I would get Hep A (useful even @home) and typhoid, assuming you have enough time for shots to take effect & get all round(s) necessary. Talk to your MD about recommended malaria meds and any side effects so you can weigh pros/cons. Over past 3 years, we used bug repellant when there was no breeze or in areas where no breeze would penetrate (most often in evenings). They fumigate, too. This year also saw some moms w mosquito netting for babies in strollers.

I just came back 3/14, and yes, I would say that the best buildings for families with children are Ovando, Colon, Estrella, and Mariposa. Your room category does dictate your location (as mentioned) but it's worth asking room planning what you qualify for. I've posted more comments on Convenient Rooms for Families at http://puntacanamom.blogspot.com/2009/03/convenient-rooms-for-families-at-club.html. The evening dress themes from our stay (3/7-3/14) is also up at http://puntacanamom.blogspot.com/2009/03/saturday-activities-and-theme.html Have a great trip!!!!!

Look at JFK and EWR (Newark) but don't automatically rule out Bradley. I just saw an online fare out of Bradley that was only slightly higher than a JFK quote, and of course the trip to Bradley is a lot easier and parking is cheaper. Other things to factor in: - Cost to park car if driving (~$18/day longterm at JFK) - Cost of shuttle or train to airport (CT Limo to several locations, or 2-hr train to EWR - we've taken this train out of Hartford for other overseas trips out of Newark and this worked *very* well - took CT Limo back) - If your kids are very little, their stamina in relation to # of connections, flight timing, etc.
