One Paradise for the Four of Us!

Spencer and Martin on their walk from the beach bar towards the room

It all began at Club Med Phuket where Spencer and I met 18 years ago and love continued to blossom during many Club Med family vacations after we were married and had a son. Here we are, many years later, now with two sons, a teenager and a toddler, a sporty mom and a laid back husband.

We knew that only Club Med could provide a successful vacation for our individual needs and yet bond us together as a family. For baby's 1st Club Med experience we chose Punta Cana in January 2008 and it was a huge success.

The Baby Club was brand new and very clean, with a loving and caring staff. We felt comfortable leaving our precious 20 month old in their care every morning for 4 hours while the three of us embarked on discovering what the Club had to offer. After only two days, we each had our personalized routine. Starting with a family game of bocce ball, then on to archery for myself and our teenager Jonathan, a tennis clinic for me while Jonathan went to the flying trapeze or skate park. My husband was perfectly content watching us during our activities, reading and enjoying the scenery. After all, he had a sumptuous lunch to look forward to.

Afternoons found Jonathan hanging around the teen area, dad supervising the baby's nap in the room and me reading on the beach - alone. Then we met up to play with Martin in the pool or the sand. Sometimes I took a water aerobic class with about 40 other women in the ocean, what fun! At around 5pm we all walked along the beach, abandoning our chaises, among coco trees to the beach bar for Happy Hour. We had daiquiris or mojitos, Baby Martin ate as many French fries as he wanted. The sun set, live music played in the background. At 6pm we forced ourselves to leave and go back to our room to quickly change.

The food presentation was always a feast for the eyes. We enjoyed the meal in the oceanfront restaurant, complemented by the lovely Club Med house wine and started to look forward to yet another spectacular show to come.

There was so much to do and see at the Club we didn't even feel like taking an outside excursion during the entire week. Upon leaving the Club, I actually realized I had tears in my eyes as it was one of the happiest and most memorable weeks of our lives. Yes, we found one paradise on earth for the four of us!
