Going the extra mile and making an impression on a young child.
In January 2008 we went to Club Med Sandpiper for our first Club Med experience, and of course it went above our expectations. Our children had a great time at the mini-club and of course we all tried the trapeze.
Our trip was so great we returned this past January to Sandpiper.
We knew the Go's would be great and the food would be superb but we did not expect the extra mile they took with our five year old son. He has recently been diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome and they were very patient and calm with him and by the end of the week he was opening up and bonding with his go's.
We would take our kids to the shows at night and our son would watch and he started asking lots of questions about the lights and sounds, and later he would move the curtains in our room like they did on stage and get his sister to dance.
On our last day we were talking to the person who works the lights and sound and she told us to bring Evan by and she would show him the room where all the magic happens. He was so thrilled to see the big spot lights and sound board! She not only showed him the room but she gave him some left over coloured gels and a copy of some of his favorite Club Med songs.
As soon as we got home he put the coloured gels in front of a couple of lamps and put on the cd and he became the light and sound tec while our daughter dances in our basement. Every night before bed is our Club Med show, just like at the resort.
This has been a great way for us to remember a wonderful holiday and also have some much needed family time at the end of the day.
Thank you Club Med for taking the time to make a young boy happy (and his parents).
