Predicting top trends in Club Med travel 2009

By The Editor on February 12, 2009

What will 2009 bring for the travel industry? Club Med tracks vacation trends for the coming year, based on current guest preferences.

1

Family reunions, multigenerational travel. At the dawn of the New Year, Club Med reservations noted a significant increase in files with 15 or more guests booked under the same family name.

2

Green teens. Teens push their parents to make more environmentally conscious decisions at home and on vacation. From CFL light bulbs to voluntourism and eco excursions, teens represent the gateway for new ideas to enter the home.

3

Baby’s first vacay. Kids under two stay free—and the Baby Welcome and Baby Club Med programs make taking a vacation with an infant 4-24 months a cinch.

4

Wait and see travel. The current difficult economic situation generates shorter booking windows. The good news is people are still traveling, but guests hesitate to make reservations more than three months in advance due to the uncertainty of the economy.

5

Extreme reservations. Luxury suites in our resorts within a resort and standard rooms book first.
